The long summer break is over, and Kawasaki Puccetti Racing is at the Magny-Cours circuit in France for round seven of the Supersport World Championship, in which it competes with riders Can Oncu and Yari Montella.
In cool, cloudy conditions the two young riders used the two practice sessions to adapt their ZX-6R bikes to the French track. The first session ran on a wet track that gradually began to dry out as the practice progressed. Montella (1’49”998) and Oncu (1’57”345) were reluctant to risk a crash, but nevertheless worked hard to fine-tune their respective bikes.
The afternoon session had a similar flavour, beginning on a wet track that was alomost dry by the end of the phase. Both Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders improved on their earlier times, with the Turk setting a 1’42”777, while the Italian put ni a 1’43”475. In the day’s combined standings, Oncu places eleventh and Montella fifteenth.
Tomorrow will see Kawasaki Puccetti Racing taking part in Superpole and the first race of this seventh round.

Can Oncu
“The weather complicated this first day of practice, during which we had to switch between rain and slick tyres. I tried to push hard on the slicks and was able to improve. We didn’t make any mistakes and the bike is behaving well and so we’re optimistic ahead of the races. We haven’t raced for more than a month, but we were able to immediately regain those automatisms and have worked well, so I hope that tomorrow we are able to fight for the podium.”
Yari Montella
“The rain definitely didn’t help us, although we were able to lap on a dry track for a time. We were able to work on on our bike anyway and we know whether we need to work in preparation for Superpole and the races. I had a small crash in FP2 but am unhurt.”
