Garrett Gerloff and his official Ninja ZX-10RR carried on the positive momentum that has been built up through the recent WorldSBK rounds during a two-day test at the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli, between 20 and 21 May.
The Kawasaki WorldSBK Team and Garrett have worked very effectively in the previous rounds, with consistent top six results headed up by a season-best fourth place in Race One at Most, just a few days ago. Gerloff continued his strong showings at this Misano test, finishing up seventh fastest overall.
Garrett’s Italian-based team joined several other WorldSBK outfits at the 4.236km Misano circuit, near the Adriatic Coast of Italy, aiming to find out more about the ultimate performance of the 2026 WorldSBK spec machine, and continue their good performances into the next rounds.
Garrett set his personal best time of the test in the second session of day one. A small crash early on day two made the final sessions more complicated than the first two. The Texan’s best lap was a 1’32.547, which he set on day one.
Rider and team got through a large amount of work, setting over 100 laps on day one alone, and 157 in all. Gerloff experienced some arm-pump issues due to the heavy – but essential – workload during the modern era of strictly limited testing opportunities on full WorldSBK spec machines.
The next round of the WorldSBK Championship takes place at the Spanish circuit of Motorland Aragon, between 29 and 31 May. Misano itself hosts the seventh round of WorldSBK, which will be held between 12 and 14 June.
Manuel Puccetti
“Two extremely positive test days, for both the team and Gerloff. We focused on testing setups and new material received from Japan. We’re very pleased with the work done and the potential that the bike clearly has. We know we’ve taken another step forward and the work done here at Misano will definitely be useful in the next races.”
Garrett Gerloff
“We have had two days of testing at Misano, and the first day was really good. I was very happy with the feeling of the bike and where I was with everything. The final day didn’t start as easily, with a crash, so it was a little bit more difficult. In the end, I am happy with the things we discovered with the bike, and I’m looking forward to the next race.”
