Kawasaki Puccetti Racing is on its way to Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, where it will hold two days of testing on 25 and 26 January, in preparation for the start of the 2023 racing season.
For the technicians of Manuel Puccetti’s team it will be an important and useful appointment to test the new components on the track and all the work done both on the Kawasaki ZX-10RR of the Superbike rider Tom Sykes and on the ZX-6R of the Supersport rider Can Oncu.
The two riders will try out a lot of new things on their bikes, both in these two days in Spain and in the following two days of testing that the team will carry out on the Portuguese circuit of Portimao on 31 January and 1 February, and which will complete the preparation for the two world championships which will start at Phillip Island in Australia on 24 February, preceded by the official tests on 20 and 21 February.
Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal
“We are happy but also eager to carry out these two days of testing in Jerez, because we have lots of new things to try, both with Tom and Can. During the winter break, our technicians worked like never before on our bikes. We will be present at Jerez with two ZX-10RRs and three ZX-6Rs, one of which features an important update that we are testing on behalf of Kawasaki. After the two days in Spain, we will move to Portimao for another two days of testing, which will allow us to present ourselves in the best possible way at the first round of Phillip Island”.
Tom Sykes
“I can’t wait to start testing in Jerez and Portimao. We’ve already gathered some data on the Spanish track in December’s tests, and we’ll start from that to then refine the set up of my ZX-10RR in anticipation of the first round at Phillip Island. We will have to define which are our strengths and which ones where we need to improve, and one of my goals is also to continue to improve my feeling with the team. I am very happy to be back in WorldSBK, to be part of Kawasaki Puccetti Racing and I feel very motivated”.
Can Oncu
“Finally the winter break is over and we’re back on track! I can’t wait to test everything the team has prepared on my bike first in Jerez and then in Portimao. I’ve trained a lot in these weeks because I’m very motivated and I want to start this 2023 season in the best possible way. The team has worked a lot and now it’s my turn to take advantage of what the Puccetti team and Kawasaki will make available to me”.
