The Balaton Park Circuit is about to host WorldSBK and WorldSSP for the very first time. A new track for everyone, though some riders have already made some laps aboard production bikes. Garrett Gerloff and Jeremy Alcoba have no previous references and so will have to work hard right from practice to find an effective setup for their bikes at this new track.
The pair had a very positive race weekend at Donington Park less than two weeks ago. Alcoba made up for an unlucky Superpole with two great races, in which he demonstrated significant potential. Gerloff also improved over the course of the weekend, which culminated in a sixth-place finish in Race 2, his best result of the season to date.
Their goal in Hungary will be to improve on what’s been done so far.
The Balaton Park Circuit is located close to Balaton Lake, in a tourist area popular with locals and foreigners alike. The circuit offers 48 garages, VIP areas, a large media centre, a well-equipped medical centre and two support paddocks. Inside the circuit, a 4-star hotel with 145 rooms is under construction. The track was built according to the highest safety standards and is equipped with “Tecpro” barriers. It measures 4.115 km in length and comprises 16 turns, six of which are right-handers, ten left. Pole position is on the left.

“Following on from our best Superbike round in several years, we’re highly motivated to take on this next round as we work to confirm and even improve on the Donington results. We’re curious to get to know this new track, one that we don’t know at all, while some riders have ridden it using road bikes. It will be a new experience and we’re ready for it; the aim is to do well in both categories.”

“This round will be different and very interesting, at a track that is new to everybody. Some riders have had chance to ride it, with production bikes, but for me it will be totally new. It will be important to work effectively as a team right from practice, to find a good setup. I usually learn new tracks quickly and can be almost immediately competitive, so we hope that’s the case this weekend.”

“Balaton Park Circuit is a brand-new track, but I’ve already taken on several tracks I didn’t know this season and have learned fast, so I hope I can do the same this weekend. The results were positive at Donington, but they didn’t reflect our true potential, which I hope we can demonstrate in Hungary.”
