The second half of the WorldSBK and WorldSSP season kicks off at Portimao

Roughly three weeks since the Czech round at Most, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing is ready to return to the track for round seven of the WorldSBK and WorldSSP championships, which will be staged at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.

In the previous races, Tito Rabat reached the points zone in Superbike, while in Supersport Can Oncu had a few difficulties but nevertheless finished in the top ten to score important championship points.

The Spanish rider is tasked with exploiting the increasing competitiveness of his Ninja ZX-10RR KRT Factory Replica, while the Turkish rider wants to be back fighting for the podium once more.

Considering the high temperatures at this time of year, the practices and races will take place ni the late afternoon and early evening.

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve is located just a few miles from Portimao, in southern Portugal. It was inaugurated in 2008, with that season’s final World Superbike and World Supersport round. The layout, which is undulating, and features corners that require breath-taking braking, measures 4592 metres. There are fifteen turns in all, nine of which right-handers and six left, while pole position is to the left.

Manuel Puccetti

“We’re coming from a positive round and so are motivated and determined to continue on this path at Portimao. As we head into the second half of the season, we’re sure we can score even better results than we have to date.”

Tito Rabat

“I’ve been training hard, but I’ve also been sure to rest so that I’m in the best possible shape at Portimao. We only had one day of testing at this track early in the year and so I hope we can soon find a good setup for my Ninja. I’ll also work with my team to understand the tyre wear over race distance, which will be an important factor at this track.”

Can Oncu

“I can’t wait to get back on my Ninja. I’ve worked hard back in Turkey to prepare for this event, and I feel ready. I’m pleased to be back working with my team and together we are aiming to score strong results and fight for the podium again. I’ll do my best to achieve the best possible results, not just for me but for Kawasaki and everyone on Manuel Puccetti’s team with whom I always get on so well.”
