The Superpole and first race making up the eleventh WorldSBK round took place today at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal. Yesterday, rain conditioned the two practice sessions, which rider Tito Rabat concluded in fifteenth place, with a time of 1’39”363, after working on the setup of his Ninja ZX-10RR KRT Factory Replica.
The rain returned this morning, which meant that the Superpole ran on a wet track. In difficult conditions, the Spaniard was able to record a 1’58”407 and finish the qualifying session in twenty-third place. As a result, he lined up on the eighth row of the grid for the afternoon’s first race.
He made a very fast start which allowed him to make up several positions. Over the subsequent laps, a very strong pace saw Tito continue to work his way up the field to cross the line an impressive tenth, matching his best result of the season (at Cremona, Rabat finished P10 in both Race 2 and the Superpole Race).
Tomorrow the team will be back on track for the sprint race and Race 2.

Tito Rabat
“We were having a tough time riding in the wet over the last couple of days but have been able to demonstrate my potential and that of the bike in today’s dry conditions. It was an incredible race. I started twenty-third but made a crazy recovery by maintaining a very fast pace. I took some risks as I passed my rivals, but it was worth it. Now I want to rest to be ready for tomorrow. I want to run two more strong races. Thanks to the whole team for all their help and support.”
