Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has carried out a two-day test at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal with its Superbike rider, Tito Rabat.
This was the final test before the team travels to Australia, where it will take part in two additional test days on 19-20 February, followed by the first round of the 2024 WorldSBK season, on 23-25 February.
The two days of track time at Portimao proved intense but very productive, both for Manuel Puccetti’s team and the Spanish rider, who worked hard to set up the 2024 Ninja ZX-10RR KRT factory replica. As he continues to adapt his riding style to the new bike, Rabat set a fastest time of 1’41”484 on day one, before improving significantly today and recording a best of 1’40”709. This is more than a second quicker than the fastest Superpole lap he set at this same track last year.
Manuel Puccetti
“This Portimao test has been very positive and has only showcased a part of our potential and that of our new bike. I’m pleased to see that, after just two tests, we’ve already reached a good level; I think we’re in for a very interesting season. I don’t know about reaching the podium, but we are confident we can take a good step forward compared to recent seasons. I want to thank the whole team for working so hard during these Jerez and Portimao tests and I invite all our sponsors and supporters to cheer us on as we take on round one in Australia”.
Tito Rabat
“I’m pleased with the work we’ve done here in Portimao. The performance of the bike continues to improve, and this means I can be consistently fast. The team has done a great job, and we now understand the areas we can exploit and those areas where we still need to work in order to exploit the bike’s full potential. I’m confident and think we’re ready for Phillip Island and ready to have a good season.”
