Points For Gerloff In Final Motorland Race

Kawasaki WorldSBK Team rider Garrett Gerloff competed in two races at Motorland Aragon on Sunday, 28 September, securing a points-scoring position after taking a 14th-place finish in Race Two.

Dry conditions were maintained at Motorland Aragon through the entire race schedule, with stronger winds appearing near the end of the day at the 5.077km-long hillside circuit.

Sunday proved to be a tough raceday for Gerloff, as he finished the ten-lap ‘sprint’ race in 15th position. He had started from 16th place on the grid.

Garrett would score two points in Race Two, which was held over 18 laps, riding his Ninja ZX-10RR from 19th position on lap one to 14th at the end. He scored two championship points for his efforts but was not able to find his desired pace from his set-up to advance any further.

Gerloff leaves Motorland Aragon 16th in the championship table, having scored three points overall this weekend.

The WorldSBK championship’s 11th – and penultimate – round will take place at the Estoril circuit in Portugal, between 10 – 12 October. The final round, at Jerez in Spain, will take place just one week later.

Garrett Gerloff

“It got a little windy on Sunday and it looked like it might rain at the end. Positives for the weekend were that I did not crash, but that’s about all I can think of. It was a tough weekend. I am trying my best, giving it my all, like always. I just don’t have the pace that I need. We have got to put our heads together and figure something out, because it was looking like we were making progress in the middle of the year and now we are just going backwards. I am not trying to be negative but I am not happy and we need to make some improvements, because this is not where we deserve to be.”
