First home round for the Kawasaki WorldSBK and WorldSSP Team at Misano World Circuit

The WorldSBK and WorldSSP championships reached the halfway point two weeks ago at Motorland Aragon and are now gearing up for the seventh round of the 2026 season.

This is a home round for Manuel Puccetti’s teams, who have their base less than 200 km from the circuit dedicated to Marco Simoncelli. The weekend provides a welcome opportunity for the team to meet with many of its sponsors and supporters.

The Superbike team is riding a very positive wave right now with strong results for Garrett Gerloff. The American rider often places in the top five or six in races and is a regular top ten finisher, able to exploit the full potential of the new Ninja ZX-10RR. Gerloff also completed two very productive and busy days of testing at the Misano track on 20-21 May, sessions that allowed him to test new setups and components.

In Supersport, both Jeremy Alcoba and Dominique Aegerter have been struggling in Superpole, which means they start further back on the grid, making for more challenging races. At Misano, a track they know well and where the team can make use of significant data, the riders have the chance to do well in qualifying and aim for strong race results.

The Misano circuit was designed in 1969 and underwent significant renovation work in the 90s, which made for a more efficient facility. In 1993 the track was lengthened, to 4.060 kilometres, and a new garage building was added. In late 2006, the circuit closed while a new track was built and, in the space of just five months, the track was extended to 4.180 kilometres and the direction of travel reversed (now clockwise). Grandstand capacity was increased to more than 23,000 places. The track currently measures 4.226 kilometres with 16 turns, ten of which right-handers and six left. Pole position is to the right.

Manuel Puccetti

“We’re ready for our home round, which comes at a great time in Superbike, where we’ve found a level of competitiveness we want to carry into this Misano weekend. Gerloff has completed two important test days at this same track less than a month ago, and this leaves us optimistic as to the results we might achieve during the upcoming round. In Supersport, the goal is to consistently reach the top five with both our riders to score the kind of results that have escaped us until now, but that we know are within reach. It will be a great opportunity for us to meet with our sponsors and all the fans, always there to offer their heartfelt support.”

Garrett Gerloff

“I’m pleased to be racing at Misano, in front of all the excited fans and our sponsors. We’ve had a positive time recently and want to keep on improving during what is a home round for our team. I like the track and had a good weekend here in 2025 that culminated with P8 in race 2, but this year we have bigger ambitions. We tested at this track just three weeks ago, and so have some good data with which to start; I hope to be competitive right from the start so that we can score strong race results.”

Jeremy Alcoba

“I’m highly motivated, not only because this is the team’s home round but because I know we can do well and achieve some good results this weekend. I hope to quickly find a good setup for my bike so we can complete a strong Superpole. If we can start from one of the first rows, we can stick with the frontrunners. I like the track and our bike has improved a lot since last season, so I’m confident this can be a great weekend for the whole team.”

Dominique Aegerter

“I like racing at Misano, my team’s home track. There’ll be a lot of fans and our sponsors on hand to support us and, after two difficult races at Aragon, I’ll be doing my best to be competitive. I’ve worked hard to prepare for this weekend and it’s time to take some good results. I can’t wait to get back on my Ninja ZX-6R 636 and make the team, the fans and the sponsors happy.”
