The Jerez Circuit in Spain is all set to stage the twelfth and final WorldSBK and WorldSSP rounds.
Only a few days ago, the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team celebrated with rider Jeremy Alcoba as he powered the ZX-6R 636 to the podium for the first time, having started from P25 on the grid. In this last two races, the Spanish rider and his team are keen to confirm the competitiveness of the bike, as well as Alcoba’s talent and determination.
At the latest Portuguese round, Garrett Gerloff finished the races in or around tenth place but at Jerez the Texan will be looking for more, thanks to the significant amount of data the team has collected while testing at this track.
The Jerez Circuit is located in the south of Spain, not far from the towns of Jerez and Cadiz, in the Andalucia region. The track is named after thirteen-time world champion Angel Nieto, who died in 2017. The facility has long hosted both MotoGP and the production-derived series. The track initially measured 4.218 kilometres but 1992 brought modifications to both the Sito Pons and Senna turns, which increased the length to 4.423 kilometres. The layout incorporates thirteen turns in all, eight of which right and five left. Pole position is on the right. This is the twelfth time that a WorldSBK round is being hosted at the Spanish track.

Manuel Puccetti
“Morale is high as we head to Jerez, thanks to Jeremy Alcoba fantastic performance in Race 2 at Estoril. A podium that rewards both the team’s hard work and the rider’s commitment. The aim is to continue at this high level at Jerez. Garrett Gerloff is not a regular top ten finisher, but our goals are ambitious and so we need to keep working hard to achieve even better results. We’ve completed a lot of testing at Jerez, so hopefully we can use all the data we’ve collated.”

“This might be the last WorldSBK round but we’re just as motivated to race and do well as we were at the start of the season. The Estoril results were positive, but I want to keep working with the team at Jerez to make our bike even more competitive. I like the track and know it well, and I think we can use the data we collected while testing to find the right setup. If we can do that, we can aim for good results in the races.”

“The final weekend and final races of the season. I haven’t even had time to celebrate the Estoril podium as we were straight on to Jerez, but I’m very pleased and motivated and can’t wait to get back on my ZX.6R 636 and work with my team. I see last week’s podium as a starting point, not an end point. I like the Jerez track well enough but it’s not one of my favourites. I know it well anyway and so I’ll be aiming to run up front and fight for the podium, or perhaps something more…..”
