At Donington Park to continue the positive trend

Almost a month after the sixth round at the Misano World Circuit, the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team and Kawasaki WorldSSP Team are ready to return to action at Donington Park in the UK.

The results achieved by Garrett Gerloff in SBK and by Jeremy Alcoba in SSP during the Italian round were the best of the season so far. The Texan crossed the line eighth in race 2 while the Spaniard placed fifth in the second SSP race. Results that reflect the riders’ ongoing progress and a bike that’s becoming more competitive, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the team’s technicians.

In the UK, Gerloff, who has recently renewed his contract with the Kawasaki Team for another year, will be aiming to continue the positive trend seen at Misano, as will teammate Alcoba. Both will continue to work hard with their technical staff in order to achieve this goal.

The Donington Park circuit was inaugurated in 1931. Closed due to the two world wars, the track became operational again in 1977. The very first WorldSBK round played out at this circuit on 3 April 1988. The track currently measures 4023 metres in length and incorporates twelve corners, seven right and five left. Over the years, it has undergone modifications, most recently in 1985, when the section behind the paddock was constructed. This section includes the Melbourne Loop hairpin, often the stage for contacts and crashes that have determined the race outcome. The entire track was recently resurfaced.

Manuel Puccetti

“We’re highly motivated for this seventh round and want to continue to build on our results with both riders. The British track, one at which we’ve previously won races in every category, is technical and exciting and generally lends itself well to our bikes. Alcoba has carried out some testing here and this bodes well for the races, but we’re equally confident about Gerloff, who wants to reach the top ten.”

Garrett Gerloff

“I’m excited for Donington, it’s a track I really enjoy. I consider the UK to be my second home, so I’m looking forward to it. My aim is to confirm and perhaps even improve on the Misano results. This circuit has been good for the Kawasaki in the past, so let’s say if we can have a good race weekend and put the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team closer to the front.”

Jeremy Alcoba

“The break is finally over, and I can’t wait to get to Donington and continue our work to develop the ZX-6R 636 and make it more competitive. I’m training hard and am highly motivated. I’ve completed some tests at Donington and I really like the track, typically British and not easy to interpret but really cool. The only unknown might be the weather, but we’ll be ready whatever the conditions. Our goal? Only one – to reach the podium.”
