A crash stops a blameless Alcoba in Race 2 at Balaton Park

Conditions at the Balaton Park Circuit were cloudy but dry for the final WorldSSP race making up this eighth championship round. Yesterday Jeremy Alcoba finished fourteenth in Race 1, having qualified tenth in Friday’s Superpole.

Race 2 took place in the afternoon and based on the lap times set in the first race, the Spaniard started from row five, in thirteenth position.

Having made a great start, Jeremy was lying ninth on lap one, closing in on the leading group. Unfortunately, another rider hit him on lap two and caused him to crash. The Kawasaki WorldSSP rider got back on his bike and tried to finish the race, but after a few laps he was forced to return to the pits as his bike was damaged in the crash.

The next Supersport World Championship round will take place on 5-7 September at the Nevers Magny Cours circuit in France.

“It was a difficult weekend for us in Hungary as we did not find a good feeling at the end. We struggled a little bit in both races. Today I tried to be at the front early in the race. I did not make a good start but in the first corner I was lucky and went into P9. But, on the second lap, another rider touched me and I crashed. We were unlucky. I tried to pick up the bike and make some laps to understand some things for the next races. I am happy for the information we took at the end but the weekend was not so good, because now it is the summer break and we could not have a good result to enjoy. I will try to make a reset to be focused in the next one. Thanks to all the team for the effort and the work that they put in”.
