Gerloff Finishes Strong Season Inside The Top Ten

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) took part in the final WorldSBK races of the weekend on Sunday 18 October, securing championship points in Race Two and ending a positive season in tenth place overall.

Sunday dawned with a change in the generally very sunny weather conditions that had  been present since the first day, although right until the final laps of the final race of 2026 the rains remained as a potential threat only.

In the morning’s Superpole Race, Garrett was 13th after starting from 16th position on the grid. With points only allocated to the top nine riders in the Superpole Race, Gerloff had one more chance to add to his points total in Race Two.

On his Ninja ZX-10RR, Garrett would finish in 13th position again, remaining out on track with his dry set-up despite light rains appearing a few laps from the end. As the race finished, the rains suddenly appeared with a vengeance, having held off just long enough.

Over 12 rounds and 26 individual races, Gerloff had a single best race result of fourth, and ended up tenth overall, with 165 points. He was just two points from the rider in front.

There was even an award after Race Two for Garrett and his Kawasaki WorldSBK Team, as he secured the ‘Best Finisher’ award. This is given to the rider who makes the greatest level of improvement from their starting position during the races, calculated over the full season.

Manuel Puccetti

“We finished today’s long race in the points again, but perhaps we could have done more. Gerloff finishes tenth in the championship, in a season that has seen him and the team work very hard to develop the new bike. This has been our best result in recent years, but we consider it a starting point and not a destination.”

“We definitely had some ups and a few downs, but all-in-all I am happy with the whole team and the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR. I feel like we got the most out of the bike that we could, and top ten in the championship is something that I am decently happy with. For sure next year I want to make some big improvements and come back fighting stronger and for better positions. We are going to recover over the off-season, train hard and come back ready for 2027.”
