The 2026 season begins with a two-day test at Jerez

The winter break is almost at an end, and both the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team and Kawasaki WorldSSP Team are ready to return to the track and complete preparations ahead of the 2026 season, with the season-opener set to take place at Phillip Island, Australia in late February.

Superbike rider Garrett Gerloff and the two Supersport riders Jeremy Alcoba and Dominique Aegerter will take part in a two-day test at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain on 21-22 January, before moving on to Portugal, and the Autodromo do Algarve di Portimao, where Alcoba and Aegerter will test on 26 and 27, and Gerloff on 28-29 January.

The American rider will use the Jerez test to build confidence and start developing the 2026 version of the Ninja ZX-10RR for the track.

Having last ridden the bike at Jerez during the November 2025 test, Aegerter will continue to adapt to the Supersport class and the ZX-6R 636, while Alcoba, who already used the same machine last year, will be able to test some new components.

The two riders recently completed an important test at the Hepia Geneva Wind Tunnels in Lancy, Switzerland. Accompanied by the team’s technicians, Alcoba and Aegerter were able to make the most of time spent in the prestigious Swiss research centre’s wind tunnel, with the aim of further refining their riding position and the aerodynamics of both their kit and the Ninja itself. The session brought very interesting results.

Eager to play a starring role in their respective categories this year, the two Kawasaki factory teams are ready for two intense and very important test days at Jerez

Manuel Puccetti

“We’re eager to get back to work during this upcoming test, which marks the official start of our 2026 season. Aegerter and Alcoba have just been in the wind tunnel, which has given us important data, and they cannot wait to get back on their ZX-6R 636 machines. Gerloff and his team will be able to use the new 2026 ZX-10RR for the first time and we’re all curious to see how it performs. We’re all highly motivated and want to see how we measure up on track with respect to our rivals following all our hard work in the racing department over the winter.”
