Gerloff and Alcoba Get Back To Business in Aragon

Garrett Gerloff ended the traditional long WorldSBK Summer break with a two-day Motorland Aragon test session, which was conducted alongside many of his 2025 WorldSBK rivals. The track action concluded on Tuesday, 26 August.

At 5.077km in length, the Motorland Aragon layout provides a large-scale testing backdrop, which featured rain at the beginning of the first day and the very end of the second day. Day two in particular was run in hot weather conditions.

The Motorland Aragon circuit itself will also reappear on the WorldSBK calendar this season, when it forms the tenth round of the year between 26-28 September.

This latest test for Garrett on his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR was therefore a particularly significant one, especially as he had to miss the Sunday races at the most recent round in Hungary in late July, after suffering a back injury on Saturday.

His overall performance at Motorland proved that he had recovered well enough to ride at a good pace, and his Kawasaki WorldSBK Team also had new material and settings for their American rider to try out. He found some real positive steps after evaluating the new material and leaves this track session with renewed confidence and determination.

With Motorland being the next round after the forthcoming Magny Cours weekend, which will be held between 5-7 September, the test also gave Garrett and his crew something of a head start in terms of set-up for when the entire WorldSBK paddock comes back to Spain to race for real.

Despite concentrating on test materials and overall bike set-up, Garrett secured a best single lap time of 1’49.928, which he set on the morning of the final day.

Jeremy Alcoba also had an undoubtedly positive day of testing yesterday. The Spanish rider had to test some new components on his ZX-6R 636, and despite the rain hampering him, he managed to get a good amount of work done and adapt his bike to the Aragon track. Jeremy completed 54 laps in total, with a best time of 1’55″039.

Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal

“We’re very happy with these two days of testing, which were very positive. Gerloff rode both days, testing many updates and new features. We’re particularly pleased that Garrett has fully recovered from the injury he suffered in Race 1 in Hungary and is ready for the next round at Magny-Cours, a track he really enjoys and where he finished on the podium last year. Alcoba only tested on the first day, but it was enough for him to test some new features on his bike that will be useful in the French round, on a track he’s new to.”

“The test was good. I think it was productive because we had some new parts to try. In the end, I think I like everything, so we are going to keep using those. It is always nice to go to a test, try something, and for it to work and feel better. I think, all in all, it was a productive test. It was also nice to ride again, finally, before the Magny Cours round. I think we are in a good place to do well.”

Jeremy Alcoba

“It was a pity about the rain, which meant we only rode for half a day. The track was also dirty, which made things tricky because there weren’t enough bikes on track to put more rubber down. I’m pleased with what we got done anyway, as we able to understand more about what we need to be strong at this track. The team and I worked well, and now we’ll see if we can use what we’ve learned here during the next races.”
