Gerloff In The Points In Cremona Opener

Kawasaki WorldSBK Team rider Garrett Gerloff secured a championship point for his 15th-place finish in the opening race at the Cremona Circuit, which was held in hot and slightly humid weather conditions.

In the Saturday morning Superpole Qualifying session, Garrett ended up 18th fastest, starting the first race from the sixth row of the grid.

Starting from that position made the race particularly challenging, especially on a track surface that was officially recorded as 45°C at the start of the race, which was started at 14.00 local time.

Gerloff continued to find out more about the race performance of his Ninja ZX-10RR during the long 23-lap opening race, which was physically demanding at such a tight and twisting circuit. Cremona features 13 corners inside its overall 3.768km length.

On Sunday, 4 May, the Cremona race action gets underway again with a ten-lap Superpole race and then a second and final 23-lap Race Two.

“Saturday was frustrating because I don’t feel like things are going horribly, as the feeling with the bike is getting better. I am also learning how to ride the bike better and better. I don’t think the results are reflecting the improvements we are making. I am starting to understand a lot more how to race the bike. I think that can be an advantage for Sunday, I hope. I just need more laps and a better starting position, so those are two things to work on.”
