Three points for Alcoba in Race 1 at Cremona

The first race of the fourth WorldSSP round took place at Italy’s Cremona Circuit today. In Friday’s Superpole, Kawasaki WorldSSP rider, Spaniard Jeremy Alcoba, was unable to complete a sufficiently fast lap and had to settle for sixteenth position. This meant that he started today’s race, which ran in hot buy cloudy conditions, from the sixth row.

Jeremy did not make the fastest start but after a few laps was able to reach the chasing group and climb as far as thirteenth position, a result that awarded him three championship points.

Alcoba will be back on track on Sunday for the second and final race of this Italian WorldSSP round.

“The first race at Cremona is done and I expected a little but more from myself. I am not happy with myself because I made a bad start and I lost out in the first part of the race. Then, after the first five laps I felt well and I tried to pass the other guys. I felt really good, like  I did in warm-up this morning. I think I did a really good job with used tyres. Then I made a mistake on the back straight in Turn 11, I went wide and I was close to going out of the track. I saved it but the positions I had won in the first part I lost. To come back again was a little bit hard. It was really hot and I struggled a bit in the second part of the race. The team did a good job and the bike was good; today we my fault. Tomorrow I will try to make a good step and be closer to the front.”
