With free practice and Superpole, the fourth round of the Supersport World Championship got underway today at the Cremona Circuit in Italy.
In hot and sunny conditions, rider Jeremy Alcoba was on track this morning for free practice, a session in which he started to build confidence with the track. Having never ridden here before, the Spaniard completed this first session in eighteenth position.
The afternoon’s Superpole established the grid positions for Saturday’s race. Alcoba was unable to find the necessary pace to complete a fast lap and, with a time of 1’32”551, he qualified sixteenth. This means he will start tomorrow’s 20-lap race from the sixth row of the grid.

“This is my first time racing at the Cremona Circuit. It’s a home round for my team and so I’m feeling a little pressure. We improved during practice, but then Superpole didn’t go as we’d hoped. Tomorrow we’ll start from further back, but I’m optimistic because my feeling with the bike continues to improve and the team has worked hard to provide me with a competitive bike. I’ll try to make a strong start and close in on the guys at the front.”
